[post_content] => Second-generation racer Julie Nataas will continue her pursuit of an NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Top Alcohol Dragster world championship with Randy Meyer Racing this season, the team announced today. It will be Nataas’ fourth full-time season in Randy Meyer Racing’s Oslo Tapet & Gulvbelegg (OTG) A/Fuel dragster.
“I’m so glad I get to continue this journey with Randy,” said Nataas, who finished fourth in national points. “I started racing in this class with RMR. I have learned, failed and succeeded with this team so there’s no one else I’d rather win a TAD world championship with than the Randy Meyer Racing Team.”
In 2021, Randy Meyer Racing scored its third consecutive world championship when Rachel Meyer drove the NTK Sensors A/Fuel dragster to her first world championship. The team won the 2019 and 2020 titles with Rachel’s older sister, Megan, driving the NGK Spark Plugs dragster.
This season, Nataas is determined to help RMR win its fourth consecutive title. She will be Randy Meyer Racing’s primary driver for the season, as Rachel is stepping aside to focus on her family’s bracket racing program. The team also plans to bring in a couple new drivers to license and run a race or two to help bring new blood into the sport, though the primary focus is chasing another championship.
“I don’t think I’m more or less motivated than last year, but last year I got really confident as a driver and that changed the game for me,” Nataas said. “Going in to 2022, there’s only one thing on my mind: ‘world champion.’ I have no doubt we can get it. We just gotta keep doing what we’re doing.”
Nataas kicked off her 2021 season with a win at the Gainesville regional race. She added regional wins at Norwalk, Indy, and Bowling Green before finishing the year with a runner-up finish at the NHRA Auto Club Finals in Pomona. The regional wins helped her secure her second NHRA North Central Region championship.
“We had a great 2021 season with a lot of regional event wins,” Nataas said. “The one I remember the most is probably when Randy had me and Rachel race at two different race tracks the same weekend and we both won. Randy was at the track in Kansas with Rachel and I was in Indy with Randy tuning over the phone.”
Nataas will race with continued support from Oslo Tapet & Gulvbelegg, a Norwegian manufacturer of floor coverings, carpet, linoleum and wallpaper. Lucas Oil and Right Trailers have stepped up as associate sponsors on the nitro-injected dragster.
“It means a lot that big companies like Right Trailers, Lucas Oil and OTG want to continue to chase this dream of mine with me,” Nataas added. “I’m nothing but proud to represent such great companies.”
Nataas and the OTG/Lucas Oil/Right Trailers team will kick off their 2022 season at the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals presented by ProtectTheHarvest.com, Feb. 17-20 at Auto Club Raceway in Pomona, Calif. Click here to view the team's 2022 National event schedule.

[post_content] => Looking back at the 2021 race season, we had another outstanding year running two dragsters full-time, a big challenge all on it's own. Here's a look at our five most unforgettable moments from the 2021 NHRA season:
5. Racing 4-Wide Successfully
This was our first time being able to take advantage of the 4-wide tracks at Las Vegas and Charlotte, and we actually really enjoyed it! Julie made it to the final quad at both events, and Rachel took home the win at the NGK/NTK Nationals!
4. Winning the Heartland Nationals with Dusty
Racing at your home track is the hardest thing to try and accomplish, but we finally got the win in Topeka for the National event (it's been since 2014). What makes this one more special is winning it alongside Dusty Meyer, Randy's nephew, in memory of Joe Meyer.
3. Winning 2 different races on the same weekend
When Randy decided to run Rachel and Julie separately on the same weekend, we thought he was crazy. However, the team's preparation and hard work paid off and Rachel and Julie both made it to the winner's circles and qualified number one!
2. Julie winning the AllStars
Almost every year, our team earns a spot in the prestigious Jegs AllStars event where the best team's from each region race against each other. It's been 7 years since Randy won the race, until Julie sealed the deal and won the 2021 AllStars!
1. Rachel winning the Vegas Nationals for the Championship
In a winner-take-all final round, Rachel did an outstanding job of handling the pressure of winning her last Top Alcohol Dragster race and trying to clinch our team's third consecutive World Championship!

[post_content] => As the Randy Meyer Racing drivers Rachel Meyer and Julie Nataas stepped on property at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, they both had one main goal in mind: do whatever it takes to make sure the world championship comes home with Randy Meyer Racing. Rachel Meyer made good on that promise by winning the 21st annual Dodge//SRT NHRA Nationals presented by Pennzoil in her NTK Sensor Specialist Dragster while Julie Nataas inked a semifinal round appearance at the event.Eliminations began on Saturday afternoon for both Randy Meyer Racing drivers. Julie qualified No. 2 and had a first round matchup against Gord Gingles. Right off the bat, Julie had a .010-second reaction time advantage over Gingles and with a 5.222, 271.68, she turned on the win light against his 5.413, 267.11. Rachel followed right behind with her matchup against Jasmine Salinas as she staged as the No. 1 qualifier. Just like Julie, Rachel got the holeshot on Salinas and took the win with a 5.283, 280.95 to Salinas’ 5.541, 261.88.Second round, Julie used a 5.254-second pass at 272.89 mph to defeat Mitch Myers. Rachel Meyer clocked in with a 5.224, 280.43 to take out former world champion Joey Severance’s 5.291, 274.55. For the first time in NHRA history, the semifinal round was comprised of four female drivers. Rachel faced off against Kim Parker in eliminations and Julie was tasked with trying to take out Jackie Fricke to help her teammate out. Rachel clocked in with a 5.265, 280.95 and turned on the win light over Kim Parker’s slowed 5.448, 261.93 while Julie got the starting line advantage over Fricke but wasn’t able to hold her off with a 5.302, 275.51; Fricke’s 5.232, 68.97 advanced to the final round.

In a winner-take-all scenario for the Top Alcohol Dragster World Championship, No. 1 in points Rachel Meyer staged up against No. 2 in points Jackie Fricke. Rachel had a starting line advantage of .006-seconds over Fricke and blazed the scoreboards with the quickest pass of the weekend for the win and her first world championship. Rachel clocked in with a 5.191, 281.01 to Fricke’s 5.260, 270.16 and with that win, Rachel’s name was inked in the history books as the 2021 Top Alcohol Dragster World Champion and the third consecutive world championship for Randy Meyer Racing.
"I don't even know where to start, you couldn't have played out a better championship fight," said Rachel. "I'm still on cloud nine over the face that we just won the Top Alcohol Dragster World Championship! Sitting in the car while we pulled up to the line my heart was racing, and I kept trying to calm my breath. But then there was a delay when Funny Car driver Brian Hough oiled down the track in front of us, so I started trying to do anything to get my mind off what was about to go down and calm myself down so i didn't make any rookie mistakes. I even started singing the song 'Impossible' in my head since Jackie and Team Finke have been impossible to beat.
"I knew I had missed the tree some in the final round just because I was so nervous, but luckily we were about even on the tree and the car was on a great run we were able to seal the deal. I can't thank my dad enough for all the hard work and dedication he puts into these cars. my crew guys: JJ, Rob, Ted, Kevin, Creig, Howard, Jeff, Doug, Rick, Caleb, Lucas, Kris, Dale, mom, and Julie enough for all they do for me at the races, and I want to say thank you to my sister Megan for all the behind scenes work she does for the team. I don't think anything can really top this week with my wedding happening this weekend, and I know this smile is going to last a long time. A special thank you to all of our sponsors; NTK Sensors, NGK Spark Plugs, Lucas Oil, Technician.Academy, GUNK, ARP, Jiffy-Tite, and more."

“We’re proud to continue offering this unique opportunity to young technicians. We’re excited to introduce Juliaun and Jeremy to the Randy Meyer Racing Team. This is going to be an incredible learning experience for the both of them,” said Shawn Collins, Founder of Technician.Academy.
“We are so excited to partner with Technician.Academy and be represented in this year’s NHRA U.S. Nationals. The opportunity this chance affords our students is invaluable – even if they do not win the competition,” said Ivy Tech Chancellor Daniela Vidal. “For our faculty and students to be able to see the team in the pits in action and view the race from the stands is a chance in a lifetime."
“There are thousands of open positions in Indiana in the automotive industry, and competitions like this, and programs like Ivy Tech’s Automotive Technology Program prepare students for successful futures and help fill open positions with skilled technicians in Indiana automotive shops,” said Chris Kaufman, program chair at Ivy Tech Evansville. “Ivy Tech offers short-term certificates in sequences of technical and professional courses that are industry-focused that build upon each other leading to an Associate of Applied Science degree in Automotive Technology,” he added.
Continuing their partnership with Technician.Academy and the Randy Meyer Racing Team for the fourth year in a row is MotoRad. MotoRad’s team of experts understands the value of bringing unique education opportunities like this to the automotive industry where training is lacking and quality technicians are retiring.
Rachel Meyer and Julie Nataas will have two qualifying sessions for the U.S. Nationals on Thursday, September 2nd followed by a third session on Friday to set the field. Julie will go on to compete in the prestigious Jegs AllStars event to represent the North Central Region of the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series. Eliminations for the U.S. Nationals will be held on Saturday and Sunday.
“I am excited to return to the U.S. Nationals for the third time,” said Rachel Meyer, driver of the NTK Top Alcohol Dragster. “We’d like to get back into the winner circle again this year with help from our Technician.Academy, MotoRad, and Ivy Tech interns. We have been on a winning streak the past couple of races, and I have high hopes that we can continue the momentum at the biggest race of the year.”

Randy Meyer Racing didn’t have to look far to find a new primary driver when Megan Meyer announced her retirement last year, as her sister, Rachel, has been named Megan’s replacement. Rachel will drive the newly rebranded NTK Sensors A/Fuel dragster tuned and owned by her father, Randy Meyer. “This is something I have always dreamt of doing with my family and I’m excited I finally get the chance,” said Rachel Meyer, a product design engineer. “I’m lucky to have bosses who will work with my work schedule and allow me to take off to go racing, as well as NGK and Lucas Oil for helping me out this upcoming season.”NTK Sensors, the world’s largest OE oxygen sensor manufacturer, is the sister brand to NGK Spark Plugs, which served as Megan’s primary sponsor from 2018 through the end of her second NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster world championship season in 2020. “NGK is pleased to sponsor the Randy Meyer Racing team for the 2021 season,” said Beth Skove, General Manager-Marketing, Aftermarket Division, NGK Spark Plugs (U.S.A.) Inc. “It has been an honor to help support Randy’s team over the years, and last year was especially exciting with Megan Meyer breaking two (elapsed) time records and holding the world champion title for the second year in a row. We know Randy has a talented race team and crew, and we’re looking forward to another winning year with Randy Meyer Racing and Rachel Meyer.”Racing on a part-time basis, Rachel won the 2020 NHRA Central Region championship on the strength of two wins and a runner-up finish. She also reached the semifinals in her second JEGS Allstars appearance. “Winning your first championship is something everyone dreams of and I can’t believe I finally got it done,” Meyer said. “I knew it would be hard to win one, especially with only racing part time, but thanks to my dad and crew for giving me a great, competitive car I got it done. I’m hoping one day I can win a world championship, then maybe try for a championship in other classes.”Meyer’s 2021 schedule will be her most ambitious season yet, with 10 national events and six regional races on the itinerary. She’s chasing her first national event victory and her fifth win on the Lucas Oil Series regional level while trying to improve on a No. 11 finish in the national points standings. “My biggest goal is to finally get that national event win,” Meyer said. “I came close in my first-ever national event and made it to the finals, but I have never been able to get that Wally. Another goal would be placing top 10 in the national points. I came close a few times, but since I was limited to just a few national events each year it made it hard to place top 10.”On top of racing the NTK Sensors A/Fuel dragster, Meyer also plans to continue bracket racing at local tracks like Mo-Kan Dragway, where she started the 2020 season with a win. “It’s going to be a hectic year working and racing full-time, as well as finishing my truck and racing it on the weekends I’m not racing the alcohol car, but I’m very excited,” Meyer said. Meyer, who services the clutch in addition to a number of other driver duties between rounds, will work alongside her dad and the team he’s assembled to work on Randy Meyer Racing’s A/Fuel cars. Megan will also join the team at a few races to handle media duties, while the sisters’ mom, Mary, helps out as well. “I would like to thank my mom, dad, and sister Megan for everything they do for me on and off the track,” Meyer said. “I couldn’t do this without any of them. I also want to thank all the crew guys who have helped me in the past – Ted, Howard, Craig, Kevin, Kris, Roy, JJ, Rob, Jeff, and Rich – for helping me at the races.”Meyer will begin her 2021 season in the NTK Sensors dragster at the NHRA South Central division’s season opener, Feb. 26-27, at No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose, La.

[post_content] => On the heels of winning a second consecutive NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster world championship with driver Megan Meyer, Randy Meyer Racing (RMR) announced today it will chase the 2021 title with Julie Nataas. It will be Nataas’ third full-time season with RMR in the Oslo Tapet & Gulvbelegg (OTG) A/Fuel dragster. “I’m glad to be back for another year with RMR,” Nataas said. “I have become really close with the guys over the last few years. Everyone works so hard and they always look out for me. Randy is a great guy and always teaches me new stuff, which I love. So I can’t wait to be back at the track with my crew and to learn even more. Randy is a master at what he’s doing and I’m grateful to be in one of his cars.”Since joining the Randy Meyer Racing team in 2018, Nataas has collected two national event victories and four regional event wins. She earned the NHRA North Central Region championship in 2019, the same year she was named to the Drag Illustrated 30 Under 30 list. With a career-best elapsed-time of 5.11 seconds, she’s the fourth quickest driver in NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster history.“I’m so, so, so proud of the team,” Nataas said. “We ended 2020 with Megan winning her second championship and me third in the points. Having two cars in the top 3 really shows how much work and effort Randy has put into the cars and the program. I’m excited to see what we can do as a team in 2021.”Nataas is focused on improving her national points finish in 2021, as well as chasing a second North Central Region championship. She’ll run a schedule of 10 national events and 8 regional races to contend for both titles. “After finishing No. 3 in 2020 I definitely want to finish in an even better position in 2021 – that includes a lot of Wallys,” Nataas laughed. “I also want to finish on top in the North Central championship again after falling short in 2020.”Nataas will race for the North Central Region championship as a true resident of the region, as she’s moving to the Indianapolis area, just minutes from the NHRA Division 3 headquarters. “After almost six years in California I’m moving to Brownsburg, Indiana, before the season starts,” said Nataas, who grew up in Norway. “It’s going to be a huge change, but I’m so excited. If I wasn’t already living and breathing this sport 24/7, I definitely will now.”Nataas’ primary sponsor for the 2021 season is Oslo Tapet & Gulvbelegg, a Norwegian manufacturer of floor coverings, carpet, linoleum and wallpaper. Longtime RMR sponsors Lucas Oil, NGK Spark Plugs and Technician.Academy will serve as associate sponsors on the nitro-injected dragster. “Without my sponsors, I wouldn’t be able to do this,” Nataas said. “I’m so grateful that OTG is coming on board for another year. They have been with me since I first started racing in Jr. Dragsters. Hopefully the coronavirus situation will calm down a little bit so the OTG representatives can travel from Norway to be with us at the racetrack in 2021. Lucas Oil, NGK and Technician.Academy have been a part of the team for years. I’m so glad to be representing such great companies.”Nataas and the OTG A/Fuel dragster will kick off the 2021 season at the 52nd annual NHRA Gatornationals, March 11-14 at Gainesville Raceway in Gainesville, Fla.
