Megan Meyer, with teammate Justin Ashley, will return to the home of her first NHRA National event win, zMax Dragway in North Carolina. Since winning the 4-Wide Nationals in the spring of 2016, Megan has won five events including the NHRA Chicago Route 66 Nationals.

Megan’s most recent win came this previous weekend at Tri-State Raceway in Earlville, Iowa for the Lucas Oil Central Region Series event. Her father and team owner, Randy Meyer, earned his first Top Alcohol Dragster win at the track in 2001, and has since gone on to win 24 races and multiple Central Region Championships. With this win being Megan’s fourth Regional win, including wins at Gainesville, Florida, Belle Rose, Louisiana, and Topeka, Kansas, Megan has clinched the lead of points and has hopes of winning her first Central Region Championship in only her sophomore year of A/Fuel racing.

“This is a moment I’ve always looked forward to,” Megan claimed. “I’ve seen my dad up on stage many times for his championships and I always knew that one day I would be on stage earning mine. My entire team has worked so hard for us to go rounds and it has shown on the track. We’ve had a great race car and very little problems all year long, and I couldn’t be more proud to share this win with these guys and our partners.”

Partnered with Megan for the event was DuctSox, a company based out of Iowa that focuses on air dispersion. The team picked up two Soxs that will go in the work area and office area of the new Randy Meyer Racing headquarters in Kansas. For the race, Megan qualified second with a 5.31 E.T. at 274 mph and went on to take down Dean Dubbin, James Stevens, and Mike Edstrom in eliminations.

“Cutting a perfect light in one of these cars is nearly impossible, but I’ve had my fair share of red lights,” said Megan. “I knew that Mike was running faster than us all day, so I had to take a chance and go for it on the tree. Mike and his team put up a good fight and we couldn’t back down in the finals. I tried my best and I was hoping for a .02 or .03 reaction time, but I staged a little deep and cut a .003 light to get out in front and cross the finish line first.”

Megan and Justin will compete side-by-side in this weekend’s NHRA Carolina Nationals. Megan will have a Liquid Wrench livery on her Top Alcohol Dragster to promote the new branding of the chemical company that is partnered with Gunk, the official brake cleaner of Randy Meyer Racing, The team uses the penetrating and lubricating oil on their race cars to beat rust and corrosion.

The Carolina Nationals will air on Fox Sports 2 Thursday, September 28 at 8-9:00 pm ET. Keep updated with the team via Newsletter, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter this weekend.
