Rachel Meyer and Julie Nataas of the Randy Meyer Racing Team will be competing in both NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing events happening this weekend. Randy will be at the track with Rachel in Western Kansas at historic SRCA Dragstrip while Julie Nataas will be at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis and will be tuning the car over the phone, something that he has experience with.

Julie Nataas is currently leading points for the North Central Region of the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series with two event wins so far this year, while Rachel is currently third in the Central Region with one win and one runner-up.

“It might be the first time we’re splitting the team up at two different race tracks,” said Julie, “but it’s going to be the second time I have Randy tuning over the phone. Last time we went to the finals so I’m confident that we can win at two different races this weekend!”

“I am hoping that we will make some good A-to-B passes, and hopefully get the win this weekend.” Rachel said. “It’s becoming a nail biter to see who is going to win points this year and currently I am tied with Shawn Cowie for first in the National standings! It’s pretty exciting to be battling it out with all of these great drivers around, and fighting to the end to see who will get that championship win this year. We are coming up on the half-way mark with our season and every race counts, so I’m just hoping to see some good results this weekend and go some rounds. They just redid the track surface there, so it will be interesting to see how we get down it.”

Rachel will have two qualifying sessions this Friday with eliminations on Saturday, while Julie will have one qualifying pass on Friday, with two more on Saturday before first round of eliminations. Live coverage will be provided by NHRA.tv.
