Megan Meyer, 26, kicked off her 2019 Championship season by winning the 50th Annual GatorNationals in Gainesville, Florida, and hopes for a repeat finish in 2020. This year, Megan’s teammate Matt Sackman, 26, will join her in the Top Alcohol Dragster ranks driving the Randy Meyer Racing Team’s second dragster with support from Hangsterfer’s Laboratories. Matt will be making his second NHRA national event appearance and will perform his role as a short block specialist and bottom end guy on Antron Brown’s Matco Tools Top Fuel dragster.

“I’m excited to race in Gainesville. The track surface is great and we’re at sea level so it’s exciting to know we’ll be able to run fast here,” Matt said. “I’m just excited to be able to race a national event, let alone in an awesome car out of the Randy Meyer camp with backing from Hangsterfer’s. I’ll be driving the car Rachel Meyer drove to victory at the Belle Rose regional a couple weeks ago, so I feel like we have a good shot to win. Last year in Pomona I went 5.18 at 276 mph in one of Randy’s dragsters. It would be cool to run numbers like that again. Randy has the cars running good and that gives me confidence as a driver.”

Megan, in her NGK Spark Plugs dragster, is anxious to return to the track as defending Champion, “we had such a great start to 2019 that set us up to eventually win the championship before the season was over. However, we struggled at the Belle Rose regional race two weeks ago and couldn’t take enough power out of the car to get down the track. I don’t think we will have that problem here this weekend, we have a lot of data running at Gainesville and we know what this track can handle. I’m very excited to return to the cockpit of my NGK Spark Plugs, Lucas Oil dragster, and although we have a shorter field with only 13 cars entered for the 16 car field, we can’t underestimate the tough competition here this weekend.”

Megan and Matt will get two qualifying sessions on Friday at 12:15pm and 7:30pm ET, followed by the final session on Saturday at 10:30am ET. First round of eliminations will kick off Saturday at 5:15pm ET and will conclude on Sunday. Catch the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series TV coverage on Thursday 3/26 at 9:00pm ET.
