With a thrilling side-by-side win over points rival Troy Coughlin Jr., Megan Meyer officially clinched the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Top Alcohol Dragster national championship in the final round of the NTK NHRA Carolina Nationals. Meyer drove to a 5.149, 281.48, her best run of the weekend, to squeak by Coughlin’s competitive 5.169, 280.80 to make the title official.

“This is for my dad, Randy, who does so much for us and for our whole team, and all the people who support us,” said Meyer. “I love this class. I don’t want to race Top Fuel. All I care about is Top Alcohol Dragster. How cool is it that it was me and T.J. [Coughlin]. We’re just a couple of bracket racers who came up the Sportsman ranks together and now we're at the top. We've even shared the same Super Comp dragster before. This just means so much to us.”

Meyer, last year’s third-place finisher, has enjoyed a dominant season so far with seven wins in 12 final round appearances in the injected nitro dragster that is tuned by her father, Randy. Meyer’s scorecard includes four national event titles including the 50th annual Amalie Gatornationals and the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals. Meyer came into the Charlotte event with a slim 12-point lead over Shawn Cowie and a 64-point advantage over Coughlin. Meyer helped herself with a second round win over Cowie’s supercharged entry. Meyer, who counts her sister, Rachel, and Norway’s Julie Nataas as teammates, is the fourth woman to win an NHRA Lucas Oil Series sportsman championship, joining Amy Faulk (Super Stock, 1979), Jackie Alley (Super Stock 2011), and Mia Tedesco (Super Gas, 2016).

[post_content] => Randy Meyer Racing has partnered with Technician.Academy for their third consecutive Respect is Learned© In The Pits contest. Two college students, John Lipscomb and Beau Fleming, have won the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work alongside Randy Meyer Racing in the pits at the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, IN, this Labor Day weekend. The two winners will gain hands-on experience handling the team’s Top Alcohol Dragsters.

The Respect is Learned© In The Pits contest has emerged from the Technician.Academy Respect is Learned© commitment to delivering world-class training that provides students with the knowledge they need to gain respect in the industry. Current college students, like John and Beau, that earn this unique opportunity will acquire industry connections as well as gain respect amongst their peers and future employers, on top of creating memories that last a lifetime.

“This opportunity has been an amazing experience each year,” said Shawn Collins, Founder and CEO of Technician.Academy. “We’re excited to provide these deserving students with such a unique, valuable opportunity that they can add to their portfolio and forever have connections to the racing industry.”

In years past, Randy Meyer Racing and Technician.Academy only selected one Respect is Learned© In The Pits winner each year. In 2019, the teams decided to double the experience and provide not one, but two opportunities for students to work alongside the drag team at the largest drag racing event in the world. Beau and John, both students at Lincoln Technical Institute in Nashville, were selected as winners for the 2019 race.

“We’re excited to have John and Beau with us this weekend,” said Megan Meyer. “Every year we are impressed by the quantity and quality of applications we receive to be a crew member for us at Indy. We have had amazing winners in the past with Joe and Kyle, who have gone on to use their experience of working with us to further their careers in the automotive industry. We’re always looking for a way to help and this is the perfect opportunity to encourage students to step outside of the classroom to gain hands-on experience and add to their resumes. Rachel and I are both very excited to return to Indy, this will be her first time racing at the U.S. Nationals, and my fourth time. Our team is looking forward to the tough competition and gaining points to get closer to the National Championship.”

John and Beau will join Randy Meyer Racing and Technician.Academy in the pits this weekend, August 30th through September 1st. The teams will be joined by MotoRad, who has added support to the program for two consecutive years. MotoRad is an innovator of high-quality thermostat, cap, and engine management solutions for both the automotive OEM and aftermarket industries. The MotoRad team believes in the Respect is Learned© mentality and has continued to support Technician.Academy initiatives that improve the future of the automotive industry.

Look for race news and highlights of John and Beau’s experiences in the pits throughout the event by following #RespectisLearned and #RandyMeyerRacing on social media. To learn more about the Respect is Learned© In The Pits program or to get involved, visit Technician.Academy/in-the-pits.

[post_content] => Dot’s Pretzels is excited to announce a new partnership with Menards, Randy Meyer Racing, and drivers Julie Nataas, Rachel Meyer and Megan Meyer. The agreement will extend through the 2019 racing season and Dot’s graphics will be displayed primarily on the team’s new Top Alcohol Dragster driven by Julie and Rachel, and will be an associate sponsor on the NGK Spark Plugs dragster driven by Megan Meyer.

"Our team is very happy to extend our partnership with Menards and to bring Dot's Pretzels into the drag racing industry for the remainder of the 2019 season,” Says Megan Meyer of Randy Meyer Racing. “We love the savory Dot’s Pretzels, and if we see a bag while we are traveling to a race, we go out of our way to buy them; it's one of those snacks you can't miss out on. We look forward to participating in the upcoming displays at the Menards stores to introduce Dot's Pretzels to shoppers. We really enjoy talking with them about our 4,000-horsepower nitro dragsters that they can come see at the races."

The Randy Meyer racing team will be signing autographs and sampling Dot’s Pretzels at Menards stores in Sandusky, OH, Joliet, IL, Olathe, KS and Topeka, KS surrounding NHRA National events and regional races in the area. The new Dot’s Pretzels dragster will also be on display. To help kickoff the sponsorship, driver Julie Nataas will be at the Sandusky, Ohio store on May 16th from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. Check Randymeyerracing.com/events-and-appearances for additional dates and times.

The race team already boasts an impressive NHRA record early in the 2019 season with five victories and 10 final round appearances in a row. Megan Meyer has taken home the Wally at the NHRA GatorNationals, NHRA Spring Nationals and the Lone Star Nationals with Rachel Meyer finishing as the runner-up. Julie Nataas recently won the NHRA Buckeye Nationals and NHRA Four Wide Nationals in Charlotte. She also holds the record for quickest female ET (Elapsed Time) at 5.11 seconds.

Dot’s Homestyle Pretzels is a family-owned business as well as a proud member of the Pride of Dakota Brand. With bakeries located in North Dakota, Arizona and Kansas, they have been providing their zesty and addicting gourmet snack pretzels throughout the Midwest since 2012.

[post_content] => NHRA’s current winningest female in the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series (LODRS), Megan Meyer, will return to zMAX Dragway with teammate Julie Nataas for this weekend’s NGK Spark Plugs NHRA 4-Wide Nationals. Megan will debut a new wrap on her 4,000 HP Nitro-Injected Dragster on Friday to kick off the #4WideNats, with a special live look at the dragster on Thursday only on Megan’s Facebook and Instagram pages (@MeganMeyer.Racing). Megan will represent the new NGK RUTHENIUM HX™ Spark Plug with the primary color of purple for the remainder of the 2019 NHRA season.

NGK Spark Plugs’ NGK RUTHENIUM HX spark plug line, which consists of 25-part numbers covering over 200 million vehicles currently in operation, offers higher ignitability, enhanced oxidation resistance and increased durability for today’s modern engines. As a high ignitability plug, the NGK RUTHENIUM HX guarantees maximum combustion efficiency to ensure the most complete fuel burn, a quicker throttle response, smoother idle and better cold start. NGK Spark Plugs achieved the high ignitability in NGK RUTHENIUM HX by combining two of the most advanced tip design technologies available: Double Fine Electrode (DFE) and the first-to-aftermarket Projected Square Platinum Electrode (PSPE). DFE is intended for non-turbo applications, and PSPE is intended for turbo applications. Due to the metal composition and specialized tip designs, NGK RUTHENIUM HX offers the highest performance and life expectancy of any NGK spark plug currently on the market.

Operating out of the Randy Meyer Racing camp, Megan began her NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster career in 2016 after competing in the Junior Dragster and Super Comp ranks. Megan kicked off her freshman year with the team’s first win at zMAX Dragway in 2016 and won the event again in 2018. As the team enters its 40th year of drag racing, they will also feature a special 40 Years of Racing badge on both of their A/Fuel Dragsters.

The two-time LODRS Central Region Champion couldn’t be more excited about the decision to debut a new livery at her favorite race of the year. “zMAX Dragway is my favorite track for many reasons, but mostly because some of my most memorable racing memories were made at this facility. I love how the new purple on the car makes the red and blue pop. It will stand out on the track and bring a fresh look to the traditional NGK Spark Plugs that everybody knows and loves."

“It was very special to win the first NGK Spark Plugs 4-Wide Nationals last year.  The entire NGK Spark Plugs team was here to cheer us on from the suite and join us in the winner’s circle. Then to come back in the fall and win the Carolina Nationals at the end of my season was the cherry on top. 2018 was my best year so far, and 2019 already has set the bar high for us with our team having one of our cars visiting the final round at each race so far. We know we have two of the best cars in our class, and we’ve inspected every element to make sure they are in their best conditions for each pass.”

Megan Meyer and Julie Nataas will take to the track on Friday, April 26 in Charlotte, North Carolina for the first qualifying round at 1pm followed by the second session at 5:30 pm. Qualifying will conclude with the third session on Saturday at noon, with two rounds of eliminations on Saturday night, and the semi-finals and final round to be held on Sunday. Fans can get new hero cards showing the new livery at the Randy Meyer Racing pits and the NGK Spark Plugs trailer, located in the midway.

Tune in to FS2 on Thursday, May 9th at 9pm ET to catch the first airing of the LODRS NGK Spark Plugs 4-Wide Nationals, with multiple re-airs on FS2 and FS1 until June 8th.

[post_content] => Randy Meyer will be adding a new student to his roster of drivers for the 2019 season starting this weekend at the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Eastern Region event in Gainesville, Florida. Daughter of NHRA Pro Mod driver, Marc Caruso, Camrie Caruso, 21, will be the one of the new faces in the alcohol pits. Mentoring and racing alongside Camrie will be Megan Meyer, Randy’s oldest daughter and the two-time Midwest Region champ.

Camrie made her first couple of hits in the nitro dragster earlier this year in Phoenix to get comfortable transitioning from driving a Top Dragster to an A/Fuel Dragster. She then completed her NHRA upgrade licensing process on Thursday, March 7th, at Orlando Dragway with her best pass of 5.33 seconds at 271 mph.

“Getting used to leaving with a hand brake versus a foot brake has been the biggest hurdle for me,” says Camrie. “My favorite part is how much it pulls; my Top Dragster would leave hard but then mellow out, this one keeps pulling. I am looking forward to learning the most I can this weekend with the Meyer team and knowing that I will be in a safe car.”

The Randy Meyer Racing Team will have at least 5 drivers in their camp throughout the year including Rachel Meyer, Julie Nataas, and Matt Sackman. The team plans to compete at 28 NHRA races this year to maximize National and Regional event points for each driver.

Top Alcohol will get 3 qualifying sessions on Friday, followed by 3 rounds of eliminations on Saturday. Tune into our Facebook page to follow along with the team as they try to knock out the 17 other dragsters in competition this weekend.
